Texas A&M adds former Iowa WR Jacob Bostick via transfer portal
By Ryan Brauninger
May 8, 2024
Mike Elko and his offensive staff have dipped back into the transfer portal waters today and added WR Jacob Bostick to their roster for the 2024 season.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder spent two years at Iowa before deciding to continue his career elsewhere.
He becomes the fifth new player for the Aggies in this spring window and the first wide receiver as Holmon Wiggins looks to round out his room for this coming fall.
Originally from Palatine, Illinois, Bostick redshirted in 2022 and only saw action in five games last fall. He did not record a catch in his stint in Iowa City. As a recruit, he held Power 5 offers from Louisville, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Illinois.

Not sure Iowa should be where offensive weapons should be pulled from. Hope I'm wrong! Good luck kid!

Elko about to pull off the greatest college football story of 2024 by making this Iowa WR into an all American in year 1

His underproduction is explained by the fact he was always injured. So it would take him getting on the field healthy at iowa before you can blame him for the Iowa offense. So, he's got that going for him. Surely. he was ready for a portal refresh.

His 247 profile. Interesting that his comp coming out of HS was Josh Reynolds. Seems like solid depth with the ability to contribute if needed this year and possibly a member of the rotation next year.

How many potentially good receivers played for Slocum back in the day when we ran the ball all of the time. Jerry Rice could have played for Slocum and he wasn't going to throw it. I have no idea if this kid is good but I'm not going to blame him because he went to Iowa and then realized Iowa wasn't the place for a receiver. I'll trust Elko until it's time not to trust Elko. We definitely need WR bodies and this kid has three years to play.

If he is half as productive for us as Reynolds I will be happy. His profile pic from 247 kind of even looks like Reynolds.Rossticus said:

It's certainly working well for Schloss! And four of his best players transferred from the Ivy League.

My wife does this same thing, drives me nuts. Considering the Ivy League is not a mindset or educational prowess level or even accreditation, rather an actual defined league with membership of which Stanford is not one, you can't just consider Stanford Ivy League because it's a good school.

Perhaps the scariest indictment on the WR room.
On paper one could be concerned with talent level we have for sure. elite playmakers? Doesn't appear so. Probably going to need all of them to play above expectations.

Nothing looks more foolish than tradition to those who have none.

I have no concerns about the receiver room, myself. I believe in Moose, Walker, and Thomas.merch said:

Not sure if you meant this for me or the user I quoted. From my statement, I obviously do not consider Stanford Ivy league, I was trying to figure out how he was getting to 4

Ivy League is an actual league, with 8 members. There is no 'considering' someone Ivy League. The 8 Ivy League members are:
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Cornell
Brown
Dartmouth
Columbia
Penn
There are lots of other really good schools that provide an equal and sometimes better education than those, but they still aren't Ivy League by definition. Schools like Duke or UVA in the ACC, or Vandy in the SEC, Northwestern in the B1G, and Stanford of the now defunct PAC soon to be ACC member.
